Back in August 2024, Neil Scott joined the Calibrate team as Managing Director.

It’s always a time of change when a new leader step in, but the team has embraced the new and the different and after a few short weeks, Neil has brought his own innovative and fresh perspectives and united these with the team’s feedback to develop a pathway for the long-term benefit of our organisation and its culture.

With a wealth of experience in strategic leadership, a proven track record of driving growth, and an advocate for operational excellence, Neil is delivering a new purpose to Calibrate.  A purpose that promises a cohesive and motivated team aligned with the organisation’s goals to drive us forward in actions and decisions for greater sustainability as a business.

After graduating from Edinburgh University with a BEng in Civil Engineering, Neil started out with Mott Macdonald, a multi-disciplinary civil engineering company, and spent the next eight years working up to senior project manager.  This was followed by nine years with Airwave (that has since been acquired by Motorola) as head of delivery and client operations.  Beyond these roles, he has gathered more than a decade of Scottish top-level management experience in electrical, mechanical and structural engineering in a diverse range of fields from steel manufacturing to telecoms broadcast and security solutions to contract and engineering consultancy services.

During this time, thanks to an ability to complement a fine attention to detail with visionary thinking, Neil has crossed continents and implemented large transformational projects in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kenya in a mix of operational leadership roles.

With regard to both business and personal values, Neil is deeply committed to sustainability, which was a driver for his choice with Calibrate.  On this subject, he explains:

“Calibrate is a business of wide scope and scale in the renewables industry and we deliver eco-solutions daily. However, it is also important that we integrate eco-processes into our everyday practices and supply chain and that this remains aligned with our business goals.  That we, not just what we deliver, have a responsibility to the environment at all touch points to really make a difference.

“I look forward to transforming our customers as well as our own energy profiles in line with UN Sustainability Goals and making an impactful contribution to reducing the UK’s carbon footprint to meet net zero targets.”

Neil’s appointment unites a vast array of experience with that of our highly skilled team and we anticipate a prosperous and bright future for Calibrate.
