A Multi-faceted Mechanism to boost Business through connecting people
Spring and Autumn are busy times on our events Calendar at Calibrate. Our events seasons have a flurry of activity March to June and then again September to November. We avoid the summer months and Christmas, it isn’t that the business world stops turning, it just means that the focus isn’t the same and we can use this quieter events season to work on other priorities and plan and prepare.
We predominantly attend or run a stand at various renewables, environmental and engineering events to, as you would expect, promote our products and services to audiences we know would benefit, essentially high energy-use businesses looking to reduce costs and carbon emissions. We choose which ones we attend strategically to meet our needs and those of others, and we run our own events to fulfil any gaps in our sales lead pipeline.
However, it’s not just about business leads and sales. There are many other reasons why these are such a beneficial experience for us.
For starters, it’s about connecting people, the human factor. We don’t sell to businesses per se, but individuals. Yes, we sell to decision-makers with business plans, budgets and priorities. We may even need to influence boards and overcome red-tape for sign off, but in the first instance, the connection sits with a person with a personality, preferences and values. This is the first step in the transaction that can be the difference between success or failure. These characteristics and drivers often can’t be established in an email or call, or even easily in a scheduled face-to-face meeting. Sometimes it is the dynamic of events that bring like-minded groups together to bounce ideas, share knowledge, trouble-shoot problems and generally allow some time for head space away from the PC, office environment and the usual humans we interact with on a daily level. It’s about new, different, collective numbers and energy (the human sort, not the power kind).
Only once these interactions take place en masse, do the expected outcomes of these events truly materialise. Aside of the all-important sales opportunities, many wider benefits emerge.
On a micro level, new supplier relationships are established, research and development opportunities are identified, new talent is selected, partnerships are forged, investments are sought and found, innovations are showcased and knowledge is shared and gained.
On a macro level, networking events widen and strengthen supply chains, promote new policies, foster innovation, support personal development, enhance cultural exchange, promote collaboration between sectors and improve a region and then a country’s global standing through economic growth.
However, it all starts with that human connection – the right people in the right place at the right time and that’s why we promote and run networking events as a key business tool.
Our next networking event is scheduled for 28th November at Durham Cricket Club and will be an exciting opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about achieving Net Zero in business. This in-person event will feature networking sessions and experts sharing insights on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
It will be the perfect place to network, learn, and collaborate with others who share your goals. It’s also free but with limited spaces so to register, please visit Eventbrite – Edit Net Zero in Business Networking Event
